DHAKA: Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain announced today that Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has committed to addressing the challenges faced by the Bangladesh women’s football team. Issues such as accommodation, lack of practice facilities, and salary structures were thoroughly discussed during a reception, and assurances were given for their resolution.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the reception was hosted by Prof Yunus for the Bangladesh women’s football team, who recently won the SAFF Championship, at the State Guest House Jamuna. During the event, Prof Yunus invited the victorious team to breakfast, where he attentively listened to their concerns and requested that they submit written statements of their issues to his office.

In his remarks, Asif Mahmud highlighted the symbolic gestures from the players, who presented signed jerseys and footballs to the chief adviser. He also indicated that Prof Yunus participated in the breakfast with the women footballers, empha
sizing his support by encouraging them to maintain their winning momentum.

Addressing further inquiries, Mahmud mentioned that the footballers have been asked to submit their demands in writing within two to three days, assuring that he would personally deliver these to the chief adviser. He reaffirmed that, in collaboration with the new committee of the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF), all football-related problems, including those affecting the women’s team, would be resolved.

Mahmud stressed the importance of prioritizing players as the main stakeholders in sports. He acknowledged that the Bangladesh cricket team also faces unresolved issues, which will now be addressed. Additionally, the BFF’s new leadership has been directed to conduct an audit and submit a report to the ministry, with instructions to take action if any irregularities are found.
