Dhaka: Asserting that the July rekindled the people’s hope for a just, equal, and corruption-free country, Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus has called upon all to come forward towards building a Bangladesh together where tyranny will never rise again. He made the call in a message issued today on the occasion of the July Uprising Day.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Chief Adviser stated, “July rekindled our hope – a hope for a just, equal, and corruption-free Bangladesh.” He emphasized the sacrifice of thousands that has gifted the nation this rare opportunity for national reform, which must be protected at any cost. Prof Yunus warned that fallen autocrats and their self-serving allies remain active, conspiring to derail the nation’s progress. He urged unity beyond all divisions to confront and defeat these threats, with a vision to build a Bangladesh where tyranny will never rise again.

Prof Yunus highlighted that today marks an unforgettable chapter in the history of Bangladesh, commemorating the triumph of the July Uprising one year ago, which liberated the nation from long-standing fascist rule. He extended heartfelt congratulations to the people of Bangladesh for their united struggle that brought about this historic achievement.

On this solemn day, Prof Yunus remembered with deep reverence the brave youth, workers, laborers, and professionals who sacrificed their lives in confronting the fascist forces. He expressed profound respect for every martyr of the uprising and remembered with deep gratitude all the July warriors who were injured, permanently disabled, or lost their eyesight. He assured that the nation shall forever honor their sacrifice.

The Chief Adviser mentioned that the July Uprising was a collective eruption against sixteen years of oppressive authoritarian misrule, aiming to establish a system free from discrimination, corruption, and tyranny, with the ultimate goal of restoring democracy and returning the country to its people.

Since assuming responsibility, the Interim Government has undertaken extensive reform efforts across all sectors of the state to fulfill these aspirations. Prof Yunus noted that trials related to the July killings are progressing swiftly and measures have been initiated to preserve the memory of the July martyrs and rehabilitate the injured July fighters.

To accelerate the democratic journey, dialogue continues with political parties and stakeholders on necessary reforms, including the political and electoral systems. Prof Yunus affirmed that the Interim Government is committed to restoring state power to the people through a peaceful, fair, and transparent election, as part of a sustainable political solution.
