Dhaka: Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution (BSTI), the national standards development and control organisation of Bangladesh, today inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Russian standards organisation Federal Agency on Technical Regulation and Metrology (GOST R). BSTI Director General (Grade-1) SM Ferdous Alam and GOST R CEO Anton Shalaev signed the MoU on behalf of their respective organisations at a function held at the BSTI head office in the city.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the MoU emphasizes the priority of cooperation between Bangladesh and Russia in the development of national standards. The agreement aims to foster collaboration and enhance the technical regulatory framework between the two nations.
The MoU signing ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including Maksura Nur, ndc, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Industries, who was present as the chief guest. Ekaterina Semenova, Minister-Counsellor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in Dhaka, was also in attendance. Other notable attendees included Md Mosharraf Hossain, Director General of the Eastern Europe and CIS Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Md Hafizur Rahman, Administrator of the Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI). Senior officials from the Ministry of Industries, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Russian Embassy, and BSTI were also present at the event.
