Chattogram: Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Adviser Supradip Chakma today emphasized the need to expedite affirmative action and the mainstream integration process in the hilly areas.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Supradip Chakma highlighted that the return of additional budget allocations by the government without acceptance has been a barrier to the development of the hill tracts areas. This statement was made during a discussion held at the Parbotto Chattogram Complex auditorium, which marked the 27th founding anniversary of the relevant ministry, chaired by Secretary Md Abdul Khalek.
During the event, the adviser revealed plans to introduce e-learning in 100 schools using Starlink satellite internet connection by the end of the year, under the guidance of Chief Advisor Professor Dr Muhammad Yunus. Furthermore, he noted that the construction of 40 hostels is nearing completion and that there has been a reduction in school attendance and dropout rates due to the establishment of educational facilities in remote areas of the CHT region.
Supradip Chakma also mentioned the initiative to provide special training for teachers in subjects like English, mathematics, and science to improve educational outcomes.
The discussion also saw participation from Task Force Chairman Sudatta Chakma, Rangamati Zilla Parishad Chairman Kajal Talukder, Bandarban Zilla Parishad Chairman Thanjama Lusai, Khagrachhari Zilla Parishad Acting Chairman Shefalika Tripura, Additional Secretary Dr Rashida Ferdous, and Regional Council Member Gautam Kumar Chakma, among others.
