BSPP Pays Tributes to Shaheed Dr Milon on 34th Martyrdom Anniversary.

Dhaka: Bangladesh Sammilito Peshajibi Parishad (BSPP) today paid homage to Dr Shamsul Alam Milon on his 34th martyrdom anniversary. The BSPP leaders honored him by placing a wreath at his grave on the premises of Dhaka Medical College. They also offered fateha and special munajat for the eternal peace of Dr Milon's departed soul. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BSPP's Convener Prof. Dr AZM Zahid Hossain, Member Secretary Quader Gani Chowdhury, Prof. Dr Farhad Halim Donar, Prof. Dr Harun-Al Rashid, Dr Abdus Salam, Dr Rafiqul Islam, Dr Rafiqul Islam Labu, Engineer Shakawat Hossain, Engineer Fakhrul Alam, Biplobuzzaman Biplob, and Hafizur Raham were present at the event. During the commemoration, Dr Zahid Hossain emphasized the need for a humanitarian Bangladesh, free from killing, enforced disappearances, and repression, advocating for justice based on equality. Quader Gani Chowdhury, in his address, stated that the people of the country do not desire any form of tyranny or fascism. Dr Milon, who wa s the joint secretary general of the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and a teacher at Dhaka Medical College, was shot dead by gunmen on November 27, 1990, while on his way to a meeting against the autocratic regime of HM Ershad. His death became a catalyst for the movement against the autocratic ruler, eventually leading to Ershad stepping down in the face of a massive public uprising.
