Rangpur: A seminar titled "Muslim Literary Society in the Centenary" was held today at the conference room of the Department of Bengali at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR). The programme was organised by the 16th batch of the Department of Bengali, with class representative Meghnath Roy presiding over the event.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangla Academy Director General Professor Dr. Mohammad Azam attended the event as the chief guest, alongside BRUR Vice-Chancellor Dr. Md. Showkat Ali. The seminar featured presentations from ten students of the 16th batch, focusing on the centenary of the Muslim Literary Society. The students who presented papers included Laboni Sarkar, Masud Rana, Sabikunnahar Toma, Azizul Hakim, Saidul Shakil, Golam Morshed Tami, Annannnya Sarkar, Abdul Malek, Prosenjit Roy, Rafi Ahmed, Marufa Mukta Mehaiminun Naba, and Maksuratun Naima.
Lecturer Khairul Islam Palash delivered the welcome speech, setting the tone for the discussions. Other notable participants included Head of the Department of Bengali Professor Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Professor Dr. Tuhin Wadud, Assistant Professor Sirajam Munira, and Lecturers Golam Rabbani and Monir Hossain, who all addressed the seminar.
Students from the Department of Bengali and other departments expressed that they were greatly benefited by participating in the research-based discussions. They emphasized that organizing similar seminars across departments would aid in broadening the academic knowledge of both teachers and students.
