RANGPUR, March 17, 2023 (BSS) - The 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day-2023 were celebrated today at Begum Rokeya University, Rangpur (BRUR) in a befitting manner.
The celebrations began with hoisting of the national flag by Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Md. Hasibur Rashid and university flag by Pro Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina amid rendering of the national anthem at 9 am.
The Vice-chancellor and Pro Vice-chancellor, Treasurer of the university Professor Dr. Mojib Uddin Ahamed and Registrar Engineer Mohammad Alamgir Chowdhury first placed wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu on the campus.
Deans of different faculties and Heads of all departments, Provosts and officials of all residential halls, leaders of Begum Rokeya University Teachers’ Association, Officers’ Association, teachers, students, officers, employees and sociocultural organizations placed wreaths there.
The vice-chancellor cut a cake with children in the cafeteria premises in celebration of the 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Later, a drawing competition was held at the cafeteria for children of teachers, officers and employees of the university and students of the university.
The Vice-chancellor, Pro Vice-chancellor and Treasurer with other guests distributed prizes among winners of the competitions.
Besides, the Vice-chancellor distributed cheques of Bangabandhu Merit Scholarships to meritorious students who have achieved 1st, 2nd and 3rd places in every session at undergraduate levels in all departments of the university.
After the Zohr prayer, a milad mahfil was organized and special munajats were offered at the Central Mosque of BRUR seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu.
Later, Vice-chancellor Professor Dr. Hasibur Rashid addressed a virtual discussion arranged marking the day as the chief guest.
Member of the celebration committee of the 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day-2023 Professor Dr. Shafikur Rahman presided over the event.
Assistant Professor of the Department of Mass Communication and Journalism Mohd Mahmudul Haque presented the keynote essay in the discussion.
Pro-Vice-chancellor of BRUR Professor Dr. Sarifa Salowa Dina and Treasurer Professor Dr. Mojib Uddin Ahamed participated in the discussion as special guests.
