BGB, Ansar reach final of Independence Day Handball

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party reached men's section final of Independence Day Handball (Man's and woman's) competition eliminating their respective rivals in the semifinals held today (Thursday) at Shaheed Captain M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city.

In the day's men's section first semifinal, BGB beat Bangladesh Police Handball Club by 35-22 goals after leading the first half by 22-9 goals while Bangladesh Ansar defeated Team Handball Dhaka by 40-16 goals after leading the first half by 21-8 goals.

In the day's men's section group matches, BGB beat Team Handball Dhaka by 40-13 goals after leading the first half by 21-4 goals while Ansar outclassed Bangladesh Police Handball Club by 42-34 goals after dominating the first half by 21-16 goals.

While on the women's section, Bangladesh Police Handball Club overpowered Jamalpur Sports Academy by 32-2 goals after leading the first half by 18-0 goals while Bangladesh Ansar and VDP defeated Bodolgachi Handball Association by 34-19 goals after leading the first half by 16-9 goals.

Twelve teams of men's and equal numbers of women's teams, split into two group, are participating in the competition, organized by BHF.

The participating teams:

Men's teams:

Group A - Border Guard Bangladesh, Team Handball Club and Ideal Handball Garden Chapainawabganj.

Group B- Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defense Party (VDP), Bangladesh Police Handball Club and Chattogram District Sports Association (DSA).

Women's teams:

Group A - Bangladesh Ansar and VDP, Bodolgachi Handball Association and Tetulia Upazilla Sports Association.

Group B - Jamalpur Sports Academy, Bangladesh Police Handball Club and Handball Training Center, Dhaka
