Srinagar: Agriculture Adviser Lieutenant General Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury (retd) has announced that the yield of Boro rice in the country is satisfactory and its harvesting will be completed within the stipulated time. Jahangir, who also oversees the Ministry of Home Affairs, made this statement during an inspection of paddy harvesting and threshing at Arial Beel in Srinagar Upazila of the district today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, during a meeting with local farmers, the adviser highlighted the natural diversity of the Arial Beel area and stressed the importance of protecting its biodiversity and environment. He informed the farmers that necessary measures have been implemented to drain excess water and facilitate the transportation of crops from Arial Beel and surrounding areas.
Industry, Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan, Agriculture Secretary Dr. Mohammad Emdad Ullah Mian, and other senior district officials were present at the event. Jahangir listened to the concerns of the farmers, assuring them that their problems would be addressed. He also promised the withdrawal of lawsuits filed against farmers protesting the construction of an airport in Arial Beel.
In an effort to curb illegal activities, the adviser called for the immediate establishment of a patrol police post to prevent illegal soil trading from the Arial Beel. Adilur Rahman Khan urged local cooperation with the government to protect the area’s environment. He mentioned a government project aimed at developing the Munshigonj district, emphasizing its importance in boosting food production to achieve national self-reliance in food.
