Shariatpur:Police recovered the body of a three-and-a-half-year-old boy from a ditch in Damudya upazila of Shariatpur. The body was found wrapped inside a sack on Saturday, nearly six hours after he was reported missing.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the victim, Sowaif Hossain, was the son of a resident in Poschim Adasan of Shidul Kura Union. The boy went missing around 700 am while playing outside his house. After an unsuccessful search, the family contacted the police.
Police, alongside Fire Service personnel, conducted a search operation and discovered the child's body at approximately 100 pm. Authorities have detained a man named Rasel Shikdar in connection with the murder.
Relatives of the victim allege that the child's death was linked to a dispute between their family and their neighbor, Ali Akbar Shikdar, which occurred over a trivial issue the day before.
Additional Superintendent of Police (Damudya Circle) Arifin stated that an investigation is underway, and efforts are being made to identify and apprehend all individuals involved in the crime.
