Police on Friday recovered the body of a seven-year-old boy after he went missing for two days in Gazipur.
The deceased is Mohammad Ali, 7, son of Aynal Hossain from Maijhpara village under Chapainawabganj’s Sadar upazila.
According to police, Ali went missing when he left home for playing on Wednesday noon. As he didn’t return home in the evening, his family started searching for him.
“Not finding the boy anywhere, Ali’s mother filed a General Diary (GD) with Bason police station on Thursday. On Friday morning, local people found the boy’s body floating in a pond and informed police, who then went to the spot and recovered it,” said Mohammad Ali, Sub-Inspector (SI) of Bason Police Station.

Ali added that police are suspecting that the boy died by drowning.
“The body has been sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy, after which the exact reason of Ali’s death will be known,” added the SI.
