Gulshan: Mahdi Amin, spokesperson of the BNP’s election steering committee, has called upon the party leaders and activists to stay vigilant until the announcement of the final results, stating that BNP’s victory is inevitable. He made these remarks at a press conference held this evening at the BNP’s election steering committee office in Gulshan.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Mahdi Amin urged pro-democratic individuals to stay alert to ensure that the election results are properly secured. He emphasized the importance of preventing any irregularities in vote counting and the announcement of results by those involved in election steering from BNP and its affiliated organizations.

Mahdi Amin highlighted the emotional and aspirational exercise of voting by the people, expressing that the government elected by the people’s mandate will sincerely uphold their trust. He extended sincere thanks and greetings to the Election Commission, armed forces, interim government, law enforcement agencies, and all others involved in conducting the 13th Jatiya Sangsad Polls and the referendum.

Acknowledging the violence and irregularities since last night, Mahdi Amin described these incidents as a ‘festival of black money’ aimed at making the election controversial. He expressed sympathy and condolences to the families affected by election-related violence, where many were injured and some lost their lives.

He criticized violations of the code of conduct, suggesting that the main objective was to counter the significant difference between BNP and its rival political party. Mahdi Amin claimed that voters were threatened to discourage them from visiting polling centers and indicated that higher voter turnout could have been achieved without these incidents.

Further allegations by Mahdi Amin included the discovery of pre-stamped ballots and fake votes being cast. He mentioned instances where votes were allegedly cast in the names of deceased individuals, preventing some from casting their own votes, reminiscent of past undemocratic practices.

He also alleged the creation of fake local observers obstructing voter presence at polling stations and noted that BNP had previously informed the Election Commission about these issues. While some actions were taken, he suggested that more comprehensive measures could have been more effective.

Mahdi Amin accused a particular political party of using social media to instill fear among voters regarding casting their ballots. He asserted that BNP’s victory is inevitable and overwhelming, and no ill attempt can undermine its success. Present at the press conference were BNP Media Cell Convener Professor Moudud Hossain Almgir Pavel and member Shairul Kabir Khan, among others.
