Dhaka:BNP Chairman's Adviser Advocate Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal emphasized that taking action against wrongdoers within the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has always been a part of the party's culture. He made this statement during a human chain event organized by Jatiyatabadi Samomona Jote in front of the Jatiya Press Club, which called for the arrest of those involved in the alleged assault on Bangladesh NAP Chairman Shaon Sadiq.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Alal reiterated that the BNP has a history of addressing allegations against its leaders, activists, and ministers. Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, who is also the BNP chairman, has consistently warned party members at various levels regarding misconduct.
Alal mentioned recent actions taken against a female BNP lawmaker, highlighting that even those who have made significant sacrifices for the party are not exempt from scrutiny. He recalled Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman's past statements about purging corrupt elements from the party, referencing a meeting of the central committee of Jatiyatabadi Jubo Dal in Dhaka prior to Ziaur Rahman's death in 1981.
During the BNP government's tenure from 2001 to 2006, Alal noted that the president of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal and an elected MP were arrested and jailed following allegations. He also cited the expulsion of the son of a then-minister from Jubo Dal and the minister's removal from the Cabinet due to allegations of controversial activities. Another minister from Chattogram was dismissed over a fertiliser scam.
Alal criticized the spread of false propaganda against the BNP, stressing the party's ongoing efforts for the country's development. He expressed seriousness regarding the alleged attack on Shaon Sadiq, urging the Jatiyatabadi Samomona Jote to intensify efforts to apprehend the actual perpetrators. Leaders of the Jatiyatabadi Samomona Jote were present at the event.
