Dhaka:BNP Standing Committee Member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy announced on Tuesday that individuals involved in sabotage aimed at destabilizing the country will face legal consequences, dismissing the prospect of street confrontations under the guise of political activities.
According to United News of Bangladesh, Gayeshwar made these remarks while speaking to reporters after paying tribute to BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia at their graves at Zia Udyan in the capital. The event marked the 33rd founding anniversary of Zia Mancha.
During the event, Gayeshwar, accompanied by leaders and activists of the organization, offered prayers and laid floral tributes at the graves. He emphasized that BNP leaders and activists remain vigilant on behalf of the populace to counter such destabilizing activities.
He referenced August 5, 2024, to highlight that while fascism and its leadership have been eradicated, individuals with fascist tendencies still exist in Bangladesh. These activities manifest in incidents like early morning flash processions and crude bomb explosions, raising concerns nationwide.
Gayeshwar affirmed that nationalist forces, along with BNP leaders and activists, remain alert to ensure that democracy is not disrupted in Bangladesh. He reiterated that the government will also take decisive action to safeguard the security of the people and their property.
He stressed that this vigilance is not solely for the protection of BNP leaders and activists but also to restrain those secretly engaging in sabotage as accomplices of fascism. These individuals need to be brought under the law and to justice to ensure public safety.
