Narail: BNP’s Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman has expressed the party’s intention to rebuild the nation from the damage inflicted by the Awami League (AL) through the execution of a 31-point charter. Rahman articulated this vision while addressing the biennial conference of the party’s Narail district unit virtually from London. The event took place at Narail Government High School ground.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Rahman emphasized that the people had been subjected to 16 years of suppression under the AL. He asserted that real retribution against this oppression could be achieved through the implementation of the BNP’s 31-point charter. Highlighting the significant support BNP has at the grassroots level, Rahman urged party members to begin working towards public welfare immediately.

Rahman called on party leaders and workers to prepare themselves to bring about positive changes in the country. He stressed that if BNP is elected to power, it will initiate the implementation of the 31-point charter as a continuous process, with improvements made incrementally.

Discussing the irregularities in various sectors during Sheikh Hasina’s tenure, Rahman accused the AL of damaging the economy, education, development, and democracy, as well as undermining the electoral system. He alleged that the AL has repressed opposition leaders and workers through violence, false cases, and enforced disappearances.

Rahman criticized the AL for depriving the people of their freedom of expression and maintaining power through undemocratic means. He claimed that a mass uprising eventually removed Sheikh Hasina from power. He expressed that the citizens are looking to BNP to restore their rights, including voting and freedom of speech.

Rahman highlighted the achievements of BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia in advancing the nation’s democratic and political rights. He noted their efforts in education, employment, food production, industrialization, and economic emancipation, despite significant opposition.

Rahman reaffirmed BNP’s commitment to multi-party democracy and emphasized that the party, established by Ziaur Rahman, has always stood by the people and will continue to do so. He acknowledged the establishment of parliamentary democracy under Khaleda Zia’s leadership and noted the press freedom, women’s education, and employment opportunities developed during BNP’s governance.

Addressing the propaganda against BNP, Rahman stated that the party would counter these politically while maintaining public trust through a change in perspective and confidence in enacting change.

The conference was inaugurated by BNP Chairperson’s Adviser Aman Ullah Aman, with Narail District BNP President Biswas Jahangir Alam presiding. The event featured speeches from BNP leaders, flag raisings, and the release of pigeons and balloons. Special guests included BNP Khulna Divisional Organizing Secretary Anindya Islam Amit and Assistant-Organizing Secretary Jayanta Kundu, among others.
