Dhaka: BNP has decided to form an investigation and fact-finding committee to investigate the underlying cause of the brutal murder on the Mitford Hospital premises in the capital recently. The investigation committee will uncover the real truth in the incident and it will be made public, said the party’s Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir. He said this at a press conference at the BNP Chairperson’s political office in Gulshan this morning.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul stated that BNP’s stance on speedy trial and exemplary punishment for every murder remains firm and unchanged. “To investigate the underlying cause of this brutal murder, we have decided to form an investigation and fact-finding committee consisting of appropriate individuals who will uncover the real truth and it will be made public,” he reiterated.

Fakhrul further expressed his determination to identify and prevent those attempting to spoil the political environment and create uncertainty around the national elections, potentially paving the way for the rise of fascism. He raised concerns about whether the murder is being used for political gain, suggesting that it could be part of a larger conspiracy to disrupt the upcoming elections.

He mentioned other recent incidents, including three brutal murders in Muradnagar, Cumilla, the killing of a mosque imam in Cumilla, and the attack on Jubo Dal leader Mahbub Molla in Khulna, questioning whether the protests against these incidents were equally vocal.

Fakhrul suggested that the Mitford murder might be part of a political scheme to destabilize the country deliberately. He questioned the lack of resistance to the incident, which occurred in broad daylight and in close proximity to law enforcement agencies, raising public suspicion about the motives behind the murder.

He further stated that a conspiracy is being orchestrated against the BNP’s top leadership, describing it as a slander against the party’s leader, who is considered the architect of the movement against dictatorship and a pivotal figure in the people’s uprising. Fakhrul condemned the public statements made against the leader, expressing strong protest.

Fakhrul emphasized that Bangladesh must not fall victim to the malicious actions of political conspirators. He assured that the youth, who were instrumental in the fall of fascism, would join forces with the BNP to protect the independence and sovereignty of Bangladesh. He stressed the importance of maintaining national unity against fascism and preventing any conspiracies that could derail the country’s democratic progress.
