DHAKA: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has urged citizens to commit themselves to the nation’s welfare by drawing inspiration from the principles of Maulana Abdul Hamid Khan Bhashani, a renowned political figure.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, in a message marking the 144th birth anniversary of Maulana Bhashani, Fakhrul emphasized Bhashani’s role as a formidable advocate for the oppressed across Afro-Asia and Latin America. He described Bhashani as a steadfast adversary of imperialism, hegemony, and oppressive regimes, highlighting his unwavering dedication to fighting against exploitative forces.
Fakhrul expressed profound respect for Maulana Bhashani and prayed for the eternal peace of his soul. He asserted that embracing Bhashani’s courage and bravery is essential to counter future threats posed by anti-democratic and destructive forces. Fakhrul noted that Bhashani’s legacy would continue to inspire efforts to protect independence, sovereignty, and democracy while fostering a
love for the country.
He called on individuals to learn from Bhashani’s life and work, urging them to pursue the goal of restoring democracy and establishing people’s rights.
