Thakurgaon: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has affirmed that his party will not allow anyone to exploit the people for personal wealth accumulation. Addressing an election rally at Barunagao of Salandar Union under Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila, Fakhrul emphasized that the BNP has always maintained integrity in politics by not using it as a means to amass wealth.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul underscored that the BNP's political activities are funded by selling inherited property rather than exploiting the populace. He reassured the public that the BNP's consistent approach has been to align with the people's interests, ensuring their safety and trust. "We do politics by selling our inherited property, not by exploiting the people," he stated.
During the rally, which was chaired by BNP Ward unit President Mofiz Uddin, Fakhrul communicated the party's intention to work for public welfare and to form a government that ensures citizens' voices are heard. He unveiled several BNP initiatives, such as Family Cards for mothers to support family welfare, Agriculture Cards to help farmers obtain fertilizers and seeds at fair prices, and plans to enhance healthcare, education, and transportation. The initiatives also include creating job opportunities for the unemployed.
Fakhrul highlighted the BNP's historical contributions, mentioning the MPO recognition for educational institutions, infrastructure developments like roads and bridges, the Barendra Project in Thakurgaon, and the promotion of maize cultivation and poultry farming. He emphasized, "BNP is a tested party; there is nothing to know about us newly."
Criticizing the current government's tenure, Fakhrul accused Sheikh Hasina's leadership of restricting freedom of speech and arresting individuals for their opinions. As he seeks votes for the upcoming election, Fakhrul expressed his commitment to completing his unfinished work, stating, "I am at an age where this will be my last election. If you vote for me, I will complete the unfinished work for you, Insh Allah."
