BNP Secretary General Expresses Grief Over Death of Magura Rape Victim

Dhaka: BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has expressed profound grief and sorrow over the death of the Magura rape victim. He stated that the child has left the entire nation in tears and shame, and the emotions surrounding this tragedy are beyond expression.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Fakhrul shared his condolences in a message, praying for the eternal peace of the departed soul and conveying his heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family. He also called for exemplary punishment for those involved in the heinous act.



The 8-year-old victim passed away while receiving treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in the capital around 1 pm today. She was raped during a visit to her sister’s in-laws’ house.



On March 6, the child’s sister’s mother-in-law found her in an unconscious state and took her to a 250-bed hospital in Magura. She was later transferred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital for more advanced treatment and subsequently moved to Dhaka Medical College Hospital the same night.



By the night of March 7, the child was placed on life support. Due to her critical condition, she was transferred from Dhaka Medical College Hospital to CMH on the evening of March 8. She remained on life support in the PICU of CMH in Dhaka until she succumbed to her injuries.
