Dhaka: BNP Standing Committee member Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku today announced that if the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is elected in the upcoming elections, it intends to allocate 5 percent of the country's Gross Domestic Product (GDP) to the education sector. He made this declaration while addressing a views-exchange meeting on BNP's 31-point state reform outline with students at Sirajganj Government College, held in the college's Shaheed Shihab auditorium.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Tuku, who is also the BNP nominee from the Sirajganj-2 constituency, emphasized the importance of students in shaping the future of Bangladesh. He highlighted that BNP's Acting Chairman, Tarique Rahman, has clearly articulated the party's vision for an enhanced education system in point number 25 of their 31-point state reform programme. This commitment underscores the party's dedication to reforming and improving the educational landscape in Bangladesh.
During the event, the BNP leader engaged with students by answering their questions, fostering an interactive dialogue. The meeting was chaired by Professor Muhidul Hasan, Principal of Sirajganj Government College. Other notable speakers included Saidur Rahman Bachchu, member of BNP's National Executive Committee and General Secretary of Sirajganj District BNP, as well as District BNP Vice-Presidents Nazmul Hasan Talukder Rana and Amar Krishna Das, and Joint General Secretary Rashedul Hasan Ranjan.
