Dhaka: Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman today expressed the ruling BNP’s readiness to engage in discussions with the opposition to safeguard the country’s interests and well-being of its citizens. He emphasized the importance of unity among political parties in the parliament to address the pressing challenges faced by the nation.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Prime Minister Rahman made these remarks during a discussion in the Jatiya Sangsad (JS) focused on implementing immediate and effective measures to tackle the current energy crisis and alleviate public suffering. The discussion was initiated by Opposition Leader Md Shafiqur Rahman on the 19th day of the first session of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad.
During the session, the Prime Minister acknowledged the significance of the issue at hand and appreciated the cooperation of opposition members. He highlighted the shared responsibility of all parliamentary parties to protect the interests of the nation and its people, despite existing differences in opinion.
Rahman underscored that the energy crisis and public suffering are not issues confined to Bangladesh but are of global concern due to prevailing geopolitical dynamics. He reiterated BNP’s openness to receiving and discussing any proposals or recommendations from the opposition that could benefit the country’s citizens.
The Prime Minister assured parliament that the BNP is committed to considering and implementing any practical and feasible suggestions from the opposition. He emphasized that the interests of the Bangladeshi people are paramount and that the government is determined to take any necessary actions to ensure their welfare.
The parliamentary session, chaired by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad, Bir Bikram, resumed at 3 pm and focused on collaborative efforts to address national challenges.
