Dhaka: BNP candidate Dr. Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain has been elected unofficially from the Cumilla-1 constituency in the 13th national parliamentary election. He secured a total of 1,41,440 votes, surpassing his nearest rival, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami candidate Md Moniruzzaman, who garnered 94,885 votes.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the referendum in the Cumilla-1 constituency saw 1,71,139 voters casting ‘Yes’ votes, while 1,55,556 others opted for ‘No’ votes. The announcement of the results took place at the Result Collection and Dissemination Centre located at Nirbachan Bhaban in Agargaon, the capital city.
