Khulna:The Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) has urged its leaders and activists to ensure robust security measures during the upcoming Durga Puja, the largest religious festival for the Hindu community.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the call was directed to BNP leaders and supporters at union and ward levels throughout the nine upazilas and two municipalities in Khulna district. This directive was issued in a joint statement by Khulna District BNP Convener Md Moniruzzaman Montu and Acting Member Secretary and District Council Administrator S M Monirul Hasan Bappi, following instructions from BNP Acting Secretary General Advocate Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.
The statement emphasized that BNP leaders and activists should be vigilant against any attempts to create disturbances during the festival. It specifically warned against "anti-social activities" by those it referred to as "fallen autocrat's henchmen" or other conspirators aiming to damage the country's reputation.
BNP members were also called upon to cooperate fully, ensuring that Hindu community members can celebrate the festival without fear. The directive included forming volunteer teams at every upazila, municipality, union, and ward, working in collaboration with Puja celebration committees and BNP's affiliated organizations.
These teams are tasked with maintaining continuous vigilance at Puja mandaps throughout the festival period. Additionally, the district BNP encouraged the volunteer teams to promote their efforts via media and social media to inspire public participation in maintaining a peaceful festival environment.
