BKF Aims for Successful Hosting Women’s Kabaddi World Cup Next Month

Dhaka: The IKF Women’s Kabaddi World Cup 2025 is set to take place in Bangladesh from November 15-25 in the capital, marking the Festival of Youth 2025. In preparation, the Bangladesh Kabaddi Federation (BKF) held a press conference at the Bangladesh Olympic Association Dutch-Bangla Bank Auditorium to discuss the upcoming event.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the press conference featured National Sports Council Executive Director Kazi Nazrul Islam, BKF Vice President IGP (Prison) Brig Gen Syed Muhammad Motahar Hussain, General Secretary SM Newaz Sohag, and Joint Secretary Abdul Haque. The tournament will see participation from teams including hosts Bangladesh, Argentina, Chinese Taipei, Germany, Netherlands, Iran, India, Japan, Kenya, South Korea, Nepal, Thailand, Uganda, and Zanzibar, with Pakistan and Poland on standby.



The BKF announced the allocation of the Shaheed Suhrawardy National Indoor Stadium for the event, with ongoing coordination with government agencies to ensure smooth operations for foreign teams. Executive Director Kazi Nazrul Islam emphasized the importance of security, noting that measures are being taken seriously due to the sensitive nature of the Women’s World Cup.



BKF General Secretary SM Newaz Sohag expressed gratitude for government support and revealed that the event’s budget is Taka ten crore and forty-four lakh. While Taka five crore is funded by the government, additional efforts are being made to secure sponsorships for the remaining amount. Sohag hopes the successful hosting of the World Cup will bolster BKF’s financial resources.



Meanwhile, the Bangladesh national women’s kabaddi team is engaged in intensive training at the Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan. Sohag shared that Bangladesh, currently ranked fifth in the world, has potential to advance to the second or third position in the World Cup rankings.
