Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad’s Death Anniversary to be Observed with Commemorative Events

Narail: The 54th death anniversary of Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh will be observed at Nur Mohammad Nagar in Chandibarpur Union of Narail district tomorrow (Friday). The Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh Trust and Narail district administration have jointly organized a series of events to honor the memory of the national hero.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the commemorative programs will commence with the placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bir Shrestha Nur Mohammad Sheikh. Additional events include a guard of honor, Qurankhani, Doa Mahfil, and a discussion meeting focusing on the life and contributions of Nur Mohammad Sheikh. These events will take place in the auditorium of the Nur Mohammad Sheikh Memorial Museum and Library at Nur Mohammad Nagar.

Nur Mohammad Sheikh was born on February 26, 1936, in Mahiskhola village, now known as Nur Mohammad Nagar, in Narail Sadar Upazila. He began his service with the then East Pakistan Rifles, now Border Guard Bangladesh, on February 26, 1959. Sheikh later joined the Liberation War in 1971 and was killed on September 5, 1971, at Goalhati in Jashore by the then Pakistan Army. The BGB Jashore region and Sharsha Upazila administration will also observe the day with various programs to honor his sacrifice.
