Brahmanbaria: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today seized Indian smuggled goods worth over Taka 12.63 crore from the Ram-Chandrapur area under Sarail upazila of the district. A team of the BGB Sarail Battalion, acting on a tip-off, raided the area and seized the goods, as stated by Commanding Officer (CO) of the 25th BGB, Lieutenant Colonel Jabbar Ahmed.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BGB team intercepted a Dhaka-bound pickup at Champaknagar area on the Dhaka-Sylhet Highway. However, the driver and the helper managed to escape from the scene. The BGB team subsequently seized 15,192 pieces of Indian mobile phone displays and 107 pieces of high-quality blankets from the pickup van. The estimated value of the seized goods is approximately Taka 12,63,20,000, as informed by the BGB CO.
The seized items were deposited to the Customs warehouse at Akhaura. Lawful actions have been initiated in connection with the seizure.
