Sylhet: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized smuggled goods worth Taka one crore 42 lakh and 37 thousand from the Sylhet and Sunamganj border areas this morning. Lieutenant Colonel Md. Nazmul Haque, commander of the Sylhet BGB-48 Battalion, confirmed the matter to BSS.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, on a tip-off, multiple special teams conducted drives in Banglabazar, Sonalichela, Sangram, Pratappur, Tamabil, and Bisanakandi border areas. The teams seized a large quantity of Indian blazer fabrics, skin care creams, sunglasses, three-piece suits, sarees, lehengas, Pond’s face wash, hair oil, chocolates, cumin, Navratna powder, cows, betel nuts, and horn fish.
The operation aimed to curb the ongoing smuggling activities in the region, and the seized goods have been handed over to the customs authorities for further action. The BGB continues to monitor and patrol the border areas to prevent illegal crossings and smuggling activities.
