Ramu: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) today seized 138,000 yaba tablets concealed inside the chassis of a truck and arrested one person at a joint checkpost in Ramu, Cox’s Bazar. A press release issued this evening by the BGB detailed the operation that led to the significant drug bust.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a team from Ramu Battalion (30 BGB), led by Deputy Commander Major Md Ashikur Rahman, intensified patrols and searches at Morichya Joint Checkpost around 4 am, following intelligence information. The BGB personnel stopped a suspicious truck, and despite the driver denying the presence of illegal goods, the team proceeded with a thorough search.
During the search, a large quantity of yaba tablets was discovered hidden within a specially modified compartment inside the truck’s chassis. The authorities arrested one individual in connection with the seizure, marking a significant step in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.
Legal proceedings concerning the seized yaba and the detainee are currently underway, as stated in the BGB’s press release. Ramu Battalion Commander Lt Col Imrul Kayes Mehedi emphasized that such operations would continue to ensure border security, reflecting the BGB’s commitment to combating the influx of illegal substances into the country.
