Dinajpur: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) successfully thwarted an attempt to push nine women into Bangladesh through the Khiyar Mahmudpur border in Birampur upazila of Dinajpur district. The incident occurred around 4:00 am, as confirmed by Subedar Tia Alam, the camp commander of Bhaigor camp under BGB-20 Battalion.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the patrol team from BGB's 20 Battalion intervened to prevent the group of women from crossing into Bangladesh. Upon being stopped, the women attempted to return to India. However, they were unable to re-enter as the Border Security Force (BSF) of India blocked their passage, leaving them stranded in the zero line between the two nations.
Witnesses reported that BGB personnel maintained their positions on the Bangladesh side of the border, while BSF members were stationed on the Indian side. The nine women remained in the zero line, exposed to the elements, as they awaited further developments.
