BGB Distributes Winter Clothes and Prepares for Upcoming Elections in Bandarban

Bandarban: The 38 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) recently distributed winter clothes to 250 underprivileged individuals from 17 villages within the Thanchi Sadar Union in Bandarban. The distribution event took place at Thanchi Government High School ground at 10:00 am.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the distribution program was graced by the presence of Zone Commander of 38 BGB, Lieutenant Colonel Md. Yasir Arafat Hossain (BPMS), who served as the chief guest. Other notable attendees included Bolipara Zone Assistant Director Major Md. Zakir Hossain, senior BGB officials, and various other officers.



Following the distribution, a press briefing was held at the same venue, focusing on the upcoming 13th National Parliament elections. Lieutenant Colonel Md. Yasir Arafat Hossain emphasized that the 38 BGB is fully prepared to execute its duties during the elections, maintaining a high level of alertness to ensure peaceful and fair polls. He reassured that the BGB, as a professional and politically neutral force, will contribute significantly to maintaining law and order and safeguarding the voting rights of citizens.



The zone commander further explained that the 38 BGB would assist the Election Commission in creating a level playing field for all political parties and candidates, ensuring the electoral process is free and fair. He also highlighted that border security measures have been heightened to prevent smuggling, illegal infiltration, and other border-related crimes ahead of the elections.



In support of the election duties, nine platoons of BGB members will be stationed in Bandarban Sadar and Thanchi upazilas. The BGB will operate as both a mobile and static force, prepared to address potential risks. Special units, such as the BGB K-9 Dog Squad, Rapid Action Team, Quick Response Force, and helicopter support, will remain on standby to manage any emergencies that may arise.
