Faridpur: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui today instructed force members to adopt a strict and firm stance to prevent any disruptions during the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) polls and referendum scheduled for February 12. The directive was aimed at ensuring a smooth and peaceful election process.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the BGB DG emphasized maintaining professionalism, integrity, and impartiality among the force members as they perform their election duties. He issued these directives during visits to Faridpur and Munshiganj, part of his nationwide assessment of the law and order and security situation ahead of the elections.

The BGB DG visited the election base camps located at Faridpur Agricultural Training Institute and Srinagar Beltoli G. J. High School. During these visits, he engaged with BGB officers and rank-and-file members to discuss their duties and expectations. He instructed the force to conduct extensive patrols to ensure that voters can cast their votes in a secure and peaceful environment.

Earlier, the DG, along with the Home Affairs Adviser, participated in a law and order meeting at the Faridpur Deputy Commissioner’s office. The meeting was organized in preparation for the 13th general polls.

In addition to securing the country’s 4,427-kilometer border, more than 37,000 BGB members have been deployed in 489 out of 495 upazilas nationwide. BGB will independently manage election duties in 61 border upazilas and will be present as both a mobile and static force in 300 parliamentary constituencies, given the potential risks involved.

The BGB has arranged for helicopters, Quick Response Force (QRF), Rapid Action Team (RAT), specialized K-9 Dog Squad Unit, drones, and body-on cameras to address any emergencies during the election, according to the release.
