BGB Conducts Operations and Relief Efforts in Border Areas

Dhaka: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) personnel conducted a series of operations across different border areas, including bringing a market fire under control, seizing smuggled goods and narcotics, and distributing relief among flood-affected families. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, a fire broke out at around 3:30 am today at Balipara Bazar, adjacent to the headquarters of the 38 BGB Battalion. The fire was brought under control before 5 am through a joint effort by BGB personnel, the Fire Service, and local residents. No casualties were reported, but approximately 10 to 12 shops were completely gutted, causing an estimated loss of Tk 40-50 lakh. Meanwhile, patrol teams of Teesta Battalion (61 BGB) seized Indian yaba, 370 bottles of Eskuf syrup, a motorcycle, and motorcycle parts during separate operations in the Hatibandha and Patgram border areas of Lalmonirhat on September 15 and 16. One person was arrested in connection with the operations. The estimated value of the seized goods was Tk 339,31 0. In separate anti-smuggling drives in the Kasba and Brahmanpara border areas, Sultanpur Battalion (60 BGB) seized Indian sarees, injections, fireworks, medicines, Red Bull energy drinks, Pond's powder, Amul butter, and Dabur amla oil. The estimated value of the seized goods was Tk 1.023 crore. Sylhet Battalion (48 BGB) seized cumin, cattle, cosmetics, chocolates, betel nuts, snacks, bidis, beef, garlic, readymade garments, and a boat during separate anti-smuggling operations along the Sylhet border. The estimated value of the seized items was Tk 35.4 lakh. In Daulatpur, Kushtia, BGB personnel distributed food items among 550 flood-affected and waterlogged families living in char areas along the Padma River today. Regional Commander, Jessore, Brig Gen Mahmudul Hasan, distributed relief among 250 families at Degreechar, while another 300 families in Chilmari, Chollishpara, and Ramakrishnapur also received assistance.
