Maheshpur: Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has arrested 47 people while illegally crossing Maheshpur border in Jhenaidah district. Acting on a tip-off, BGB's Maheshpur Battalion (58 BGB) conducted separate operations in different border points of Maheshpur Upazila and rounded up 47 individuals while they were trying to cross the border illegally. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, of the arrestees, 12 are women, 19 men, and 16 children, as stated in a BGB press release. The process of taking legal action against them is under way. BGB has so far detained 885 Bangladeshi citizens, 28 Indian citizens, and 20 Rohingya citizens from August 5 to November 30, 2024, while illegally crossing the border areas under the jurisdiction of the Maheshpur Battalion.
