BGB Apprehends Smuggler with Gold Bars in Chuadanga

Chuadanga: The Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an individual, Md Raj Rocky, along with six gold bars weighing 729 grams, valued at approximately Tk 87,48,680, from the bordering areas of Chuadanga district on Monday afternoon.



According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the arrested person has been identified as Md Raj Rocky, aged 32, the son of Rezaul Haque Liton from Gayeshpur village under Jibannagar upazila. Acting on secret information, a squad from Moheshpur Battalion (58 BGB), Jhenaidah, conducted a raid around 5:30 pm on Monday, apprehending Rocky at the Jibannagar Police Station intersection. He was subsequently taken to Jibannagar camp for questioning, as detailed in a BGB press release.



Initially, Rocky did not confess to any wrongdoing, but he later admitted his involvement in gold smuggling. During further inspection, authorities recovered two cast-iron pots from his person. Upon opening the pots, officials found six gold bars weighing about 729 grams.



The estimated market value of the seized gold bars is Tk 87,48,680. A case has been registered at Jibannagar Police Station, and the seized gold bars have been deposited there.
