Dhaka: Bangladeshi film Betar (Radio) has been officially chosen for the West Meets East Screenplay Lab-2026. The lab, scheduled for January 2026, will showcase ten international projects.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, three projects from Bangladesh, including Betar by Ahsan Shoron, Jol Chhobi: The Drop Hope by Ashiqur Rahman, and Mangsho Kom by Raka Noshin Nower, have been selected. Seven additional screenplays from other Asian countries will also be developed during the Dhaka International Film Festival 2026, as indicated by a press release.
The producer of Betar, Emon Bin Anwar, mentioned that the film is currently in the development stage. He highlighted that participating in the lab could present opportunities for international co-production, funding, and distribution for these films. Notably, Raka Noshin Nower's Mangsho Kom has already been awarded the National Film Grant from the Bangladesh government.
