Dhaka: In a significant move, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) has announced a reduction in the price of Jet A-1 fuel for both domestic and international airlines. The newly adjusted prices reflect a decrease of Taka 15.67 per litre for domestic carriers and $0.10 per litre for international airlines, effective from midnight leading to June 7, 2026.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the regulatory commission’s circular outlined that the price for domestic carriers will drop to Taka 150.21 per litre, down from Taka 165.88. For international airlines, the price is set to decrease by $0.1015 per litre, bringing it to $0.9808 from the previous rate of $1.0823.
This adjustment follows a public hearing conducted by BERC in line with Sections 34 (4) and 34 (6) of the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission Act, 2003. The hearing was prompted by proposals from the Bangladesh Petroleum Corporation (BPC) and Padma Oil Company Limited (POCL).
The price revision takes into account the Platts Rate from May 22 to June 4, 2026, as well as the US dollar exchange rate involved in BPC’s Letter of Credit (LC) settlement. The BERC’s decision aims to align fuel prices with global market trends and economic conditions, providing relief to the aviation sector.
