Dhaka: A total of 3,720 justice seekers received services from the Supreme Court (SC) Helpline Monitoring Cell from January to May this year. Md. Shafiqul Islam, public relations officer (PRO) of the Supreme Court, stated that under the direction of the Chief Justice, the Supreme Court of Bangladesh inaugurated the Supreme Court Helpline Center on December 11, 2025.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the helpline currently offers call and WhatsApp services through numbers 01316-154216 and 01795-373680, as well as online services through “103”. Between January 1, 2026, and May 24, 2026, the helpline received 3,720 calls from both domestic and international sources for legal advice, case information, and complaint filings.
During this period, 376 calls were focused on seeking legal advice, while 729 calls requested information about various cases, with the information being provided promptly to the callers. Additionally, 432 calls requested action by the Chief Justice against officials from various government sectors. These were outside the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court, and callers were advised on the appropriate steps to take.
Furthermore, 2,115 calls were made to helpline number 103, but no follow-up was received from those callers. The helpline also received 68 complaints regarding irregularities related to the Supreme Court and district courts. These included negligence, service delays, and misconduct.
Out of the 68 complaints, 57 were related to delays and missing documents. While one complaint about a missing document is still under investigation, the rest have been resolved, with responsible parties held accountable. The remaining 11 complaints involved irregularities, negligence, and misconduct, including one against a High Court Division judge, seven against district court judges, and three against district court employees. Legal measures are underway to address these complaints.
