Rajshahi: The Special General Meeting-2026 and the Executive Committee (EC) Election (2026-2028) of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, Rajshahi City Unit, were held.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the meeting took place on Saturday afternoon at the City Hall conference room of Nagar Bhaban and was presided over by Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, who is the Chairman of the Red Crescent Society, Rajshahi City Unit, and also serves as the Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC).
In his presidential address, Mahfuzur Rahman Riton emphasized the unwavering commitment of the BDRCS to serve humanity. He highlighted the organization’s significant contributions in supporting people during natural disasters, providing healthcare, delivering humanitarian aid, and responding to crises. The Rajshahi City Unit has gained the trust of city residents through its consistent humanitarian activities, particularly in disaster management, voluntary services, blood donation, and health awareness initiatives.
Riton further stressed the importance of strong and dynamic leadership for the progress of any organization. He expressed his hope that the newly elected leadership would enhance the activities of the Red Crescent Society and conveyed his best wishes and congratulations to the newly elected executive committee members.
During the meeting, Riton also mentioned the responsibilities entrusted to him by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to ensure citizen services, which he is committed to fulfilling with trust, faith, and sincerity. He called for everyone’s cooperation in his efforts to guarantee citizens’ rights.
The meeting featured a welcome address by Unit Level Officer Mirza Shamim Ahsan, and General Secretary Dr. Md. Shamim Hossain Chowdhury presented the activities of the ad-hoc committee over the past year.
In the Executive Committee election, Adv. Parvez Toufiq Zahedi served as the Chief Election Commissioner, while Rashid Hossain Chowdhury and Bakul Hossain served as Election Commissioners. The Chief Election Commissioner announced the names of the newly elected leaders at the meeting.
The newly elected leaders of the Red Crescent Society, Rajshahi City Unit are Vice Chairman: Rezaul Karim Raju, General Secretary: Dr. Md. Shamim Hossain Chowdhury, and Members: Dr. Md. Wasim Hossain, Adv. Jamshed Ali, Sadid Sadrullah, Professor Dr. Md. Masudul Hasan Khan Mukta, and Dr. Parvez Azharul Haque.
The meeting concluded with Md. Mahfuzur Rahman Riton greeting the leaders of the newly elected committee with flowers. All members of the Red Crescent Society, Rajshahi City Unit, were present at the meeting.
