Dhaka: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will consult the Indian government before deciding whether the national team will travel to Bangladesh for a six-match limited-overs series next month, according to India Today. India is scheduled to play three ODIs and three T20Is, with the first ODI set for September 1 in Dhaka. The remaining ODIs are planned for September 3 and 6, followed by T20Is on September 9, 12, and 13.
According to United News of Bangladesh, the Indian team is due to arrive in Dhaka on August 28. However, the BCCI has yet to confirm whether the tour will proceed. BCCI officials have informed the media that the board will seek government guidance and permission before making a final decision regarding the tour.
The Bangladesh Cricket Board has already communicated with the BCCI about the tour, maintaining regular contact as both boards navigate the situation. Relations between Bangladesh and India have been strained, particularly after Bangladesh withdrew from the T20 World Cup earlier this year. This withdrawal followed the BCCI’s decision to remove Bangladesh all-rounder Mustafizur Rahman from the IPL due to security threats. Bangladesh subsequently requested the ICC to relocate its matches, and upon rejection, withdrew from the tournament altogether.
Although relations seemed to improve after Bangladesh’s government changed following the national election, tensions escalated when India allowed former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to hold a news conference in Delhi. Originally, the India tour was scheduled for August 2025, but both boards agreed to move it to September 2026, citing international scheduling and logistical considerations.
