Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its decision to construct a new house for Ritu Porna Chakma, a celebrated star of the Bangladesh women’s football team. This decision was made during the BCB board of directors meeting held on Saturday.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, BCB director and media committee chairman Iftikhar Rahman Mithu confirmed the decision, emphasizing the board’s commitment to supporting athletes from various sports disciplines in Bangladesh. The planning process, which included finalizing the house design and other essential details, has been completed in collaboration with an engineer and Ritu Porna’s family, who have forwarded the plans to the BCB for execution.
Ritu Porna Chakma’s new house will be constructed on a plot of land awarded to her by the local administration, following her impressive achievement of winning the 2024 SAFF Championship. Her exceptional performance, which included scoring the winning goal, not only secured the championship for Bangladesh but also earned her the title of the best footballer of the tournament.
Recently, the Bangladesh women’s football team marked a significant milestone by qualifying for the main stage of the Asian Cup, with Ritu Porna leading the team with outstanding performances. This new initiative by the BCB highlights the recognition and support for her contributions to Bangladesh’s sporting success.
