BCB Announces Women’s Team for Asia Cup and Asian Games

Dhaka: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the Women's team squad which will take part in the ACC Women's Asia Cup in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and the 20th Asian Games Aichi-Nagoya in Japan.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, Bangladesh is drawn in Group B along with defending champions Sri Lanka, hosts the UAE, and Indonesia for the 2026 Women's Asia Cup, scheduled to be held in Dubai from August 28 to September 13. Group A consists of seven-time champions India, Pakistan, Thailand, and Hong Kong, China.

Bangladesh will kick off their campaign against Indonesia on August 31, followed by a match against Sri Lanka on September 6. They will conclude their group-stage fixtures against hosts the UAE on September 8. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, scheduled for September 10 and 11, with the final set for September 13. All matches will be played under lights at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

In the Asian Games, Bangladesh will directly enter the quarter-finals due to their superior rankings over several other teams. They are set to face China on September 17 at Korogi Athletic Park. A victory there could lead them to a semi-final match against either India or Japan.

The squad for these tournaments includes Nigar Sultana Joty as captain, with Nahida Akter serving as vice-captain. Other squad members are Dilara Akter, Juairiya Ferdous, Sharmin Akter Supta, Sarmin Sultana, Sobhana Mostary, Shorna Akter, Ritu Moni, Fahima Khatun, Rabeya Khan, Marufa Akter, Sultana Khatun, Shanjida Akther Meghla, and Fariha Islam Trisna.
