Dhaka: Bangladesh Bank (BB) governor Dr. Ahsan H Mansur today announced that the central bank has extended Taka 22,500 crore in liquidity support to several banks facing financial difficulties. This measure aims to alleviate temporary cash shortages, ensuring that customers can access their funds as needed. According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the governor addressed the media at a press conference held at the BB headquarters. Dr. Mansur emphasized that the liquidity support is a short-term solution, and the central bank plans to withdraw the excess funds from the banking sector through the issuance of Bangladesh Bank bills. The initiative aims to stabilize the banks and reassure depositors of the safety of their funds. Dr. Mansur reassured the public that all bank deposits are entirely secure, urging people not to panic or make unnecessary withdrawals. "Depositors' money in banks is safe. Whatever bank you keep your money in, it will be safe, there will be no problem," he said, emphasizing that the cen tral bank is taking proactive measures to protect depositors' interests. The governor also highlighted that the central bank will continue to maintain a tight monetary policy stance to prevent market destabilization and manage the additional liquidity through various types of bonds. This approach aims to mitigate any potential inflationary pressures resulting from the liquidity injection.
