Dhaka: Bangladesh now boasts a total of 127,612,384 registered voters, as reported by Election Commission Senior Secretary Akhtar Ahmed. The voter demographic consists of 64,760,382 male voters, 62,850,772 female voters, and 1,230 transgender voters. Ahmed shared these statistics with reporters at his office in Nirbachan Bhaban, Agargaon.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the voter count increased by 1,304,880 in the two months from September 1 to October 31. Notably, the number of male voters saw a significant rise of 1,909,610 during this period. The final voter list for the 13th national parliament election is set for publication on November 18, with provisions for claims and objections until November 17.
The updated voter list includes individuals who turned 18 by October 31 and those who have registered. Previously, on August 31, a supplementary voter list was published, showing a total of 126,307,504 voters, including 64,100,455 males, 62,205,819 females, and 1,230 transgender individuals. On that occasion, it was noted that 137,642 new voters were added, comprising 94,192 males, 43,444 females, and six transgender individuals.
Earlier this year, on March 2, the total number of voters stood at 123,732,274. Subsequently, a supplementary draft voter list, incorporating voters up to June 30, was released on August 10. This list included an additional 4,571,216 voters, with 1,870,203 males, 2,700,762 females, and 251 transgender voters. Additionally, 2,132,590 voters were removed from this list.
