DHAKA: The Bangladesh Women’s cricket team is poised for a significant transformation as the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced the launch of a three-day first-class tournament, marking a pivotal step towards achieving Test status.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the inaugural first-class cricket tournament for Bangladeshi women cricketers is scheduled to commence on December 21 in Rajshahi. The country has been divided into four zones-East, Central, North, and South-to facilitate participation, mirroring the structure of the Bangladesh Cricket League (BCL), the premier first-class tournament for men.
The BCB has already disclosed the team rosters for the four zones, setting the stage for what promises to be a landmark event in Bangladesh’s women’s cricket. The initiative reflects a strategic effort to elevate the women’s game and align it with international standards.
