Dhaka: Bangladesh women’s football team slipped eight steps down to 112th in the latest FIFA rankings that were published today.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh women’s football team played four matches in the last three months, losing all four encounters. They suffered two defeats in friendly matches in Thailand with scores of 3-0 and 5-1 during the October window.
The team also faced losses in the recently concluded tri-nation series held in Dhaka, where they were defeated 1-0 by Malaysia and 2-1 by Azerbaijan. These performances have negatively impacted their position in the rankings.
In the previous FIFA ranking released in August, Bangladesh achieved significant progress by climbing 24 places from 128th to 104th. This was after their historic qualification for the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup for the first time ever, following a victory against Myanmar on their home soil.
Meanwhile, Spain and the USA retained their top and second positions, respectively, in the latest FIFA rankings.
