Dhaka: Bangladesh will observe ‘Protein Day’ tomorrow with the aim of raising awareness about protein and ensuring the right to protein for all.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the ‘Bangladesh Poultry Industries Central Council’ (BPICC) and the U.S. Soybean Export Council (USSEC) are set to observe the day under the theme “Fueling South Asia: The Right Protein, The Right Way.” In preparation for the event, BPICC organized a discussion at its Bashundhara office today.
Prominent speakers at the discussion included BPICC President Shamsul Arefin Khaled, Professor Dr. Khaleda Islam from the Institute of Nutrition and Food Science of Dhaka University, Regional Head of Corporate Affairs of USSEC Deeba Giannoulis, Professor Dr. Md. Shawkat Ali from the Department of Poultry Science of Bangladesh Agricultural University, and Chief Nutritionist of BIRDEM Hospital Shamsunnahar Nahid Mohua. They shared insights and highlighted the significance of protein in the diet for the population of Bangladesh.
