DHAKA, Feb 12, 2017 (BSS) - Bangladesh on Friday has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Jordan to import rock phosphate and Phosphoric acid in state level, said an official release here today.
The MoU was signed between Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Jordan Phosphate Mines Company.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at the Jordanian capital Amman where Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu visiting Jordan and his counterpart Jordanian Minister for industries, trade and supply Yarub Qudah were present.
Under the agreement, Bangladesh will import 1.50 lakh tonnes of rock phosphate and 1.20 lakh tonnes phosphoric acid from Jordan.
Bangladesh usually produced high quality TSP fertilizer through importing rock phosphate from different countries including Jordan.
The visiting Industries Minister also called the Jordan government to open a diplomatic office in Dhaka while the Jordan government responded it positively.
A meeting was also held with the Industries Minister and representatives of Amman Chamber of Industry Council (ACIC) that discussed bilateral economic cooperation between the two countries.
