Dhaka: Bangladesh’s Home Minister, Salahuddin Ahmed, urged Chinese investors to enhance their investment presence in the country, emphasizing the importance of security and stability in attracting foreign capital. This appeal was made during a meeting with China’s Ambassador to Bangladesh, Yao Wen, held at the Ministry of Home Affairs.

According to United News of Bangladesh, Minister Salahuddin highlighted China’s pivotal role as a major development partner and encouraged the expansion of current investments. He pointed out Bangladesh’s strategic location and the long-standing bilateral ties between the two nations as key factors for potential investment growth.

During the meeting, Ambassador Yao underscored the politically stable environment in Bangladesh as conducive for investment. He noted that approximately 10,000 Chinese nationals are currently employed across various sectors in Bangladesh. The ambassador emphasized the connection between development and security, advocating for improved law enforcement and public safety measures.

The discussions also touched on Bangladesh’s potential participation in the ‘International Alliance Combating Telecom and Cyber Fraud,’ an initiative led by China’s Ministry of Public Security. Minister Salahuddin directed officials to review the expired 2023 memorandum on law enforcement training cooperation, hinting at plans for a visit to China later this year.

Further talks covered topics such as security, cybercrime prevention, police training, and business expansion, reflecting the mutual ambition of Bangladesh and China to strengthen economic and strategic partnerships.
