DHAKA: Expatriate Bangladeshis have sent approximately $1.73 billion in remittances during the first 23 days of November in the fiscal year 2024-25. This significant inflow of funds highlights the vital role of overseas Bangladeshis in supporting the country’s economy.
According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Bangladesh Bank (BB) data reveals that remittances through state-owned and specialized banks amounted to $770.96 million, while private banks received a total of $951.31 million. This distribution indicates a robust contribution from private banking channels, which have facilitated larger remittance inflows.
For the fiscal year 2024-25, the total worker-remittance inflows from July to October reached $8.937 billion. This marks an impressive nearly 30-percent increase compared to the same period in the previous fiscal year. The surge in remittances is a positive indicator of economic resilience and the unwavering support of the expatriate community towards the development of Bangladesh’s economy.
