Dhaka:Bangladesh Puja Udjapon Front announced that no member of the Hindu community felt insecure during the Durga Puja celebrations this year across the country.

According to Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha, the Front's general secretary, Milton Baidya, stated that the festival was celebrated in a joyous atmosphere without any untoward incidents. He highlighted that this year's peaceful celebrations set a unique precedent in the political and social history of Bangladesh.

Baidya emphasized that not a single Hindu felt insecure during this year's Puja and commended the current BNP government under Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for taking concrete actions to ensure the community's safety. He mentioned the Prime Minister's principle that "Religion is a personal matter, but the state belongs to everyone; everyone has the right to get security," was demonstrated through actions that enhanced the festival's joy.

Additionally, Baidya noted that the government nearly doubled the financial support provided to the Hindu community and extended the holiday period to a five-day break to allow more inclusive celebrations. Prime Minister Rahman's visits to Puja mandaps across various parts of the country were highlighted as efforts to unite the nation.

The government ensured a three-tier security system involving police, SRB, Ansar, and other forces, which, along with CCTV and intelligence surveillance, allowed devotees to worship peacefully. The government's 'zero-tolerance' policy against malicious propaganda or religious provocation also restored confidence among citizens and the Hindu community.
